Frequently Asked Questions
How does a travel agency make money?
A travel agency's income is generated by either service fees charged to the client or by commissions received from vendors for confirming the client's reservations, or a combination of both. This type of income structure is why travel consultants are generally compensated by commissions, earning a portion of the actual service fees and commissions they have generated each month that the agency has received.
How is UniWorld's commission structure different?
UniWorld utilizes the commission structure in such a way that we have positions that range from no travel industry experience all the way to highly trained professional travel consultants & specialists. This allows anyone interested in becoming part of the travel industry, to have a place and position with UniWorld Travel. Many agencies do not offer individuals without travel agency experience a way to get started into the industry.
Why does UniWorld do this?
Since the start of UniWorld Travel, Inc. in 1992, our principle mission has been to provide travel consultants with a business platform to be successful. UniWorld has always provided the agency's travel consultants with the back-office accounting, sales support and tools necessary to be a successful consultant, and helped lead the way for the highest paying commissions in the industry. We also realized that we could provide this same business platform to independent travel consultants needing the same platform for success, and have been doing so now for over 25 years.
What is an Ambassador?
Our travel Ambassadors are individuals, small businesses or non-profit organizations that assist with marketing, but do not actively sell or confirm any travel reservations. Ambassadors work with our existing travel consultants to promote the agency and our services through new client referrals. Each time a new client is referred to the agency by the Ambassador, commissions are earned based on the service fees & commissions received from the client's purchases.
How is the Ambassador's commission calculated?
The Ambassador will earn 25% of the commissions & service fees that are received by the agency from the purchases made by the new client referrals.
For example: You refer a new client to the agency who makes a vacation purchase which generates a commission of $360.00. When this commission is received by the agency, $90.00 (25% of the commission) will be paid to you.
Hows does the commission work for an Ambassador's personal travel?
An Ambassador earns 50% of the commissions on his own qualified personal travel purchases. The Ambassador must utilize the agency provided links to our Preferred Vendors from within our agency portal website, and follow the related accounting procedures. When the commission has been received from the vendor, the Ambassdor will earn 50% of the commission received. The Ambassador must have an "active" status with completed previous client referral sales in order to qualify.
For example: You confirm your family vacation using our provided vendor links which generates a commission of $650.00. When this commission is received by the agency, $325.00 (50% of the commission) will be paid to you.
Hows does the Bonus commission work?
You will earn 5% Bonus commission for 3 years when you refer someone who becomes either a new Ambassador, Limited Travel Consultant or Travel Consultant. The Bonus commission is calculated on the commissions received by the agency which that person generated.
For example: You refer a new Ambassador to the agency who in turn refers a new client who completes a vacation purchase & generates a commission of $425.00. When this commission is received by the agency, $21.25 (5% of the commission) will be paid to you as a bonus. This bonus commission calculation will continue to apply to all service fees & commissions generated by your referred Ambassador's related commission production for 3 years.
Is there really no limit on the amount I can earn?
We do not place any limits or earning caps on any position with UniWorld. You will continue to earn on every qualified service fee and commission received by the agency as it relates to your work and referrals as outlined in our commission structure. If you make money, we make money, so everyone is successful - that's our #1 mission in business.
